sausage buns

In case you are wondering what is the topping on top of the bread buns that you see in this post, it is grated mozarella cheese and castor sugar.

Some of the confectioneries over here will add toppings to the bread buns such as cheese, pork floss, sugar, etc. I guess I was just trying my luck when I sprinkled grated mozarella cheese and castor sugar on top of my bread buns before I baked them. The sugar turned out fine but the cheese became hard. Perhaps I have used the wrong type of cheese.

INGREDIENTS

1 egg (lightly beaten)
1/2 cup warm milk
1/8 cup castor sugar
1/4 cup butter (softened)
3/4 tsp salt
2 cups bread flour
1 1/4 tsp instant dry yeast
3 sausages (sliced)

METHOD

1. Place all the ingredients (except the bread flour, yeast and sausages) in the bucket of the breadmaker machine.

2. Add the bread flour, making sure that the wet ingredients are totally covered.

3. Add the yeast.

4. Place the bucket in the breadmaker machine and set to "dough" cycle. Start the cycle.

5. When the cycle has been completed, turn the dough onto a floured board. Using floured hands, knead the dough for 5 minutes and separate the dough into 6 portions.

6. Flatten each portion using the palm of your hand and place sliced sausages on top. Using your hands, mould the dough into a ball shape and place it on a baking tray that has been lined with baking paper. Repeat with the rest of the portions.

7. Cover the baking tray with a dry cloth and leave for 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.

8. Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees celsius for 20 minutes.
